FIRST IMPRESSIONS

In terms of demeanor, Gamora is quiet and restrained, more often than not (at least until provoked), with a frequent sense of detachment and distance. To strangers, she tends to err on the side of being more formal — and she isn't as quick to anger as she might've been in the past (though if you do incur her anger, heaven help you, because you're probably done for at that point). Warmth can be hard to come by from her if she doesn't know you well, but it's far from impossible; her smiles are more frequent than she even knows, and she has a wealth of kindness to extend.
SHARD
Gamora's shard takes on the appearance of the Soul Stone, glowing a faint orange. It's located on her right wrist — and usually covered with wrist guards.
ASPECT TATTOO
The mark of the Exalt (✾) is tattooed by her clavicle.
PERSONALITY
There are two forces at conflict within Gamora: the survivor, the weapon she was molded to be during her formative years, and the person that still lives underneath — the one she has fought so tirelessly to reclaim. As a child, the intergalactic warlord Thanos decimated her homeworld of Zen-Whoberi in his quest for "balance" in the universe, and in the process killed her parents and abducted her, "adopting" her to raise (and mold) as his own. Her life from then on wasn't a kind one; constantly pitted against her other "siblings" — and most notably Nebula, whom she did come to legitimately regard as a sister — she was forced to fight not only for the favor of her "father", but also for her life, and was constantly subject to torture and abuse. What has resulted from these experiences is a woman who is, at least at first glance, tough, distant, and cold, with a tendency toward wariness and keeping vulnerabilities close to the chest. She has a reputation that precedes her, and not without reason; well-known as the "deadliest woman in the galaxy", she has learned how to navigate life by being ruthless against her enemies, and will not hesitate to take a life if she needs to (even if she doesn't like it). She doesn't mince words to spare feelings, and can often come off as harsh and abrasive — but she also knows the importance of restraint, and tends to think before acting, rather than give in to impulse; she knows she must be careful, must keep her guard up at all times, and that survival, at least in her experience, is also aided by a certain detachment from one's emotions (even if her attempts at detachment often aren't successful). But there's the person inside Gamora, too, and in the intervening years out from under Thanos's thumb, she has become steadily more comfortable and at peace with letting that person emerge, even as she works through her own guilt and self-loathing regarding her past actions and learned violent tendencies. This person is deeply compassionate, caring a great deal both for the people she loves and for people she doesn't know at all, and more receptive to letting herself enjoy things like music, like having open wonder at beautiful things. She's been part of a chosen family with the Guardians of the Galaxy, let down her emotional walls enough to be in a stable, years-long romantic relationship, and even if the past has caught up to her with tragic consequences, those things are not easily erased.
BACKGROUND
Whatever peaceful life that might've been destined for Gamora in a kinder universe was effectively shattered when she was a child, on the day that Thanos came to decimate her homeworld of Zen-Whoberi. From then on, in being tortured, molded, and trained as a weapon, she only knew a decades-long fight to survive, even against her adopted "siblings" (including Nebula, whom she did genuinely regard as a sister before a wedge was forced between them). And survive she did; she gained Thanos's favor as his favorite "daughter", carrying out countless assassinations and other acts on his order that would accrue an intense lifelong guilt in her. Even through this, though, she constantly sought out a means to escape, to carve out a life for herself on her own terms, and to mitigate Thanos's harm wherever possible; knowing what he planned to do if he acquired all six Infinity Stones, Gamora destroyed knowledge of the location of the stone she was tasked to find (the Soul Stone) before eventually finding a means to make her escape.Such opportunity came when she arranged for a deal to get another Infinity Stone out of Thanos's hands and earn herself more than enough money to survive on in the process, but in the end, she gained more than she could've ever imagined: friends, love, a found family. After meeting by chaotic happenstance on the planet of Xandar and a stay in the intergalactic supermax prison known as the Kyln, Gamora found herself aligned with Peter Quill, Rocket, Groot, and Drax the Destroyer. They saved Xandar from destruction, and became known as the Guardians of the Galaxy. Over the next several years, they would go on to have numerous misadventures; one incident in particular, involving the Celestial known as Ego, would add another member to their team (Mantis), as well as bring a reconciliation between Gamora and Nebula. All things considered, she had finally achieved some form of peace.
But that peace came on borrowed time. Thanos wouldn't be stopped on his quest for balance in the universe, to wipe out half of all life with the six Infinity Stones, and so, eventually, his plan came to fruition, and the past came knocking. Ultimately, to spare Nebula from further torture, Gamora gave up the location of the Soul Stone to Thanos — and met her own tragic, untimely end.

OUT OF CHARACTER
Writing Style: i'm cool with either brackets or prose! will default to brackets, but i don't mind prose. present tense always.
Backtagging: always!
Threadhopping: totally cool when it makes sense!
Offensive Subjects: i'll let you know if anything comes up :)
IN CHARACTER
Physical Violence: yep, this is pretty much a given. i'm here for it!
Death/Dissipation: given that she just came off of a very traumatic canonical death, let's put a pin in this for right now. i might be up for it later, with some plotting, but for at least the first little bit, i'm going to say no.
Physical Affection: i'm good with this as a player, but gamora is not exactly a touchy feely person, right off the bat; she'll need to warm up to you a little bit before she's fine with this.
Shipping/Sex: i'm open to it! gamora has no gender preference for attraction. casual things are within reach, and i'm here to develop something deeper, too, but just know it's going to take some time and significant development to reach that point, because she did leave someone behind.
Mental/Communion: yes
Offensive Subjects: gamora's history has a lot of references to trauma, torture, child abuse, forced modification/loss of bodily autonomy, etc. i realize this is really heavy stuff, and try not to dwell on it excessively as a general rule, but if you'd like to opt out of this, or the character in general, just let me know! i'm easy.
